Screw You 36A

The neighbours must be pissed.

Today is make smoothies day.

A basket arrived half an hour ago.

More fruit, and of the exotic variety.

Yay!

This is my kumquat, mango, papaya, orange and banana smoothie.

I call it 'The JamaicaYoteMan'

Have decided I'm not going to Law School this week. Will be making smoothies and broths instead, and reading and blogging too.

P.S. I don't know how to open the pineapple you see in the picture there.

do you make any without banana? i am not keen on banana based smoothies. the guys at chocolat royal in lagos made me one with raspberries and mangoes i think and that was pretty smashing. the mangoe was a much nice thickener than banana, more refreshing.

sweetness welcome to my world.. i made loads and loads of smoothies today, halifax hit 26degrees and the pool was toooooooo full...

To open the pineapple...:::

take a sharp knife, cut off the crown

let it sit on the base and run the knife vertically from the crown to the base be careful not to take off a lot of fruit... put the knife at about 2" to the fruit, repeat until you have a bald yellow sexy fruit.. LOL

I take out the pits (brown bits) with the potato peeler or the strawberry pitter...

have fun...

Ms Zee you're my hero!!! Been waiting for someone to tell me what to do! Thanks for nothing Ugo D. Lol! Some of us have never gotten up close and personal with pineapples before oh!

Katharine - mango as a thickener? Wish you'd said so before. I was getting a little tired of bananas taking over my smoothie world. The mangos I haven't aren't very ripe, but I'll give it a go. Thanks!

@ JJ - Please don't encourage my folly. I was hoping someone would tell me to get off my butt and go and get serious about my life. Lol!

Bitchy - u need to go to Lagos for good Mangoes but don't get them too ripe otherwise they're fibrous. Tosin has some in his garden if you butter him up! Papaya is also a good thickener as its a similar consistency.

I spent this morning in a development kitchen of a foodie company - what a privledge

Just cut the ends of the pineapple off and that should get you started!

Your smoothie looks waay better than the smoothies our mum had us drinkin back in the day, she used to put all sorts of nasty shit into the blender to shove down our throats - think mouldy vegetables!

x mwah x

just use a knife to peel the pineapple now (well more like hacking as it is not as soft as orange peel), cut off the crown and use a fork to pick out the pits
